The EJOT Group of companies serves global application markets including the Construction, Automotive and Consumer Electronics industries. The Group’s head offices are in Bad Berleburg in the Siegen-Wittgenstein region in Germany.
Since 1985, EJOT in the UK has grown to become the country’s leading provider of fastening solutions; achieving accreditation to DIN ISO 9002 as far back as 1993. Working closely with system manufacturers, EJOT® has both widespread approval and application specific product and has developed a wide and effective portfolio, gaining broad acceptance from specifiers, engineers, buyers and installers working throughout the building and construction sector.
The uptake of solar power throughout mainland Europe over the last fifteen years has been rapid and it was EJOT that became the first company to get DIBt approval in Germany for its solar fastenings. Development objectives were built around ease of installation, weather resistance, load bearing capabilities and the flexibility to fix to all common substrates. To achieve this, a high quality EJOT self-tapping screw that already had approval from relevant building authorities, was connected to a setscrew via a welded joint. The screw, anchored to the substrate, was proven to successfully transfer all of the tensile loads and pressure forces onto the substructure ensuring that thin or delicate covering components were not compromised. The top sealing was further optimised by a unique storm washer configuration, guaranteeing easy assembly and secure fixing of solar and photovoltaic installations.
Since then, EJOT has grown its solar product portfolio to provide high quality fixing solutions for pitched and flat roofing – for all commercial and domestic applications. This background puts us in the enviable position here in the UK, of being able to offer bespoke solutions, preliminary structural assessment and a fast supply drawing upon realtime experience.
The UK market is part driven by route to carbon-neutral for new build, and part driven by initiatives that relate to retrofit projects in domestic, public sector and retail buildings. That means that an appreciation must be shown for the technical composition of the countless roofing systems evident in the UK. All of this points to a collaboration of genuine knowledge and experience going forward; quality products in competent hands, with everyone from specifier to roofer to electrician sharing their expertise to enjoy mutual rewards. The use of approved products provides specifiers and installers the following advantages:
• consistency of quality
• proof for suitability to purpose for the testing and approval authorities and insurances
• static parameters providing a proof for the load bearing capacity without assumptions
• no verification of the suitability for purpose for each item required for every single case
• designers can save on detailing time
• maintained integrity or roof covering
• suitable for retro fit and new buildings
• minimum disruption to building fabric during installation of system
